Default Modify a Sub box

Hello, I have an MTX dual 12 sub box. The subs that were in it are 13 yrs old. My question is would it be a good Idea to try and remove the front of the box where the subs mount? I have been looking for a sub that could fit into the box, but I havnt found anything. Not sure on the specs for the box.

It's easier and less of a hassle to just build a new box rather then trying to modify an older one to fit new subs. Something that old is probably not as well built as something you could build today. If you have more questions, feel free to PM me.

1 sheet 8x4 MDF 3/4in thick - $5-10
Some carpeting or spraypaint - whichever you chose .99-$25

There are online sites that can give you more information.

Don't know where you're buying your MDF...but it's pretty much $20-$25 across the US for a 4' x 8' sheet of .75" MDF.

What you need:
-1 Sheet of .75" MDF
-1.75" Coarse thread dry-wall screws (or if you have an air brad-nailer...that will handle at least 1.5" that would be great)
-Wood Glue
-Caulk

Look at specifications for new subwoofers, preferable sealed since this is probably your first time building a subwoofer enclosure. If the sub needs 1.5 cubic feet, design a box that has internal dimensions (Depth x Width x Height) divided by 1728 to equal the need volume (ex: 1.5 cubic feet). Don't forget to account for overlap of the .75" MDF when constructing.

If you like, I design all type of custom subwoofer enclosures for $5-$15. They include detailed specs, an exact cut-sheet of all pieces needed to construct the enclosure, and a sketch.

Good luck, and let me know if you need any other help.

Typo on the pricing bit. I originally had typed up some other stuff and deleted it.
