Radio speaker question...
In a '96 Ram 1500. I was given some speakers to replace those in the '96 Ram. Those old speakers are toast, broken, bad vibration, fuzzy sound, etc. The speakers given to me are : a pair of Pyle PY446CX, 120w, 4x6, and a pair of Motorjoy GTO8364, 6-1/2", 600w, (probably not a choice I would have made).
Installed the Pyle speakers in the front doors, and the sound is great. Balance works, etc. I'm happy w/ those.
I hooked up the Motorjoy speakers in the rear (ex. cab), and as long as you are right next to them, the sound is OK. But, when you turn the fader from front to rear, there is no increase in the volume of sound. The fronts aren't as loud, which is to be expected, but the rear volume should increase, right?. Wires are connected properly from the radio, and even switching the + and- on both speakers makes no difference.
Is it possible that the factory radio doesn't have enough power to make the rear speakers operate properly? Any ideas?
The radio has operated properly previously , with the exception of the speaker quality.
I've got a set of 150w speakers ordered (DB BASS Inferno B146, 4 way, 4x4, 150w),to go in the back, but thought these (Motorjoy) might do until I get the others.
I'm not looking for anything loud, just trying to get some tunes.
Thanks,
David.
