dvd player
In my truck I have a Kenwood Excelon KVT-815 dvd player. From my own personal experience, spending less than a grand on one gets you inferior equipment. There is a Clarion VRX745VD that is a true single din chasis with no hide away brain box. You should be able to find one for around 1200.00-1300.00. Parts and labor shouldnt run anymore then 70.00. If you are interested in this unit at all and cant find one, let me know and ill sell you one. My husband owns a car stereo shop in south carolina where we live and has been in business for 10 years. He is a Clarion dealer among other brands and would be happy to part with one for 1200.00 shipped to your door. If you go to Crutchfield.com, there is a pic of it. Its touch screen also. Some people like touch screen and some dont. Mine is touch screen and I love it.
Something else I forgot to add. In South Carolina, its illegal to have them in the drivers view. I can leave my house and in 30 minutes be in a state where it is legal to have them lined up on the dash if you so desire.LOL The best way to find out is to check the state laws, or ask a cop the next time you run into one. They usually have a wealth of knowledge to pass on to us commaners....LOL
heR/Truck, how do you like the 815DVD I'm looking at that or the 715DVD for my 04 ram? The local Bestbuy has the 715 for 1499.00 but they have them on ebay for 899.00. I called the local stereo shop and they said between 3-5 hours to install at $45 an hour.
I love my 815. I wouldnt have any other at this point. To my knowledge there isnt anything the 815 wont play. One of them will not play burned dvds. Im not sure how much mine cost since my husband got it wholesale. Ill ask him when he gets home how much he would sell one for. I also dont remember how long it took to install it. There is alot of equipment in my car and alot of stuff had to be hooked together. I can put a dvd in the player in my 2nd row seats and watch it on all 5 screens. Same for the vcr. I also have infered headphones for the cracker snatchers so they can watch and hear whatever they want and so can I . The install on mine only cost me 100.00 since my husbands installers did it.
I asked him and he said the 715 with it being the end of the year you should be able to find for 1050.00 or the 815 for 1150.00 from an authorized dealer, which he is. If you cant find one for one of those prices, let me know and ill get you one. The 815 is an excelon which makes it better to both of us. If you decide you do want one, it will have a warrenty and the cost will include shipping.
I've got the Pioneer Avic in my Ram, it plays dvd's, all cd's, and has navigation. I got it for like $1400 from some warehouse internet site. I love it, if you take a wrong turn, it will automatically reroute you in less than 5 secs.

I dont know about you guys, When I was in the market for an In-Dash flip screen, I searched the market for awhile. The best picture quality I could find was thw Clarion. I have the VRX925VD, 7" flip touch screen, in dash. It is an awesome piece of audio equipment. As compared to the Apline, Kenwood, and Pioneer in dash screens, the Clarion picture quality for DVD's was amazing. The generic screen you get with it, along with the screen save that plays on it doesnt do it any justice, but when you put a DVD in it, it is the clearest and cleanest looking picture I could find. I purchased mine new in 2002 for $1498. I had it in my F-150, and now have it in my 05 Ram. There is someone on Ebay selling a brand new unit with TONS of extras for $1000. From my understanding, these units have a Parking Break wire that is SUPPOSED to be tapped into your parking break, and only allow Video to be played when the parking brake is set. To the best of my understanding, if ever confronted by authorities, or caught without it being connected to your parking break, it is consider an Involuntary Manslaughter charge with Possible wreckless driving as a gimme charge. Make sure whatever you decide to get, you check the picture quality....

Thats not true ? ! Yes some states require Dvd players to not be in sight of the driver .Bit go to any shope and they will NEVER hook it up .You have to ask them to do so , some of the newer units comeing out have the switch intergrated into the brain and sometimes the system .Talking to my buddy at his shope and he told me that the nee alpines cann't get around this , you have to wire it to the back up cam but it shows a black line on the screen and sometimes dose not work .
I have been looking into getting a navi system but they are just to much money , 800-1500 can be spent on better things for my truck
