Default Running 2 Amplifires

Ok so hears my set up i got a sony head unit goin to a 225 watt (max) Mono channel amp, goin to 2 12' MB quart 250 watt (max) subs in a bypass box.
My question is can i run 2 amps in my car and have one amp powering each sub.
do i need 2 inline fueses, or can i just run a power wire, off of one amp, nd connect it to the other
also do they sell some kind of adaptor or sumthin for ur rca plugs because im goin to need 4 (2 to each amp)

I need some help so can some one please get back to me on this asap, thanks a bunch lada

yes you can, it would be smarter to put a fuse on the power cable between the two amps, but you don't need it. circuit city will be the cheapest place to get a couple "RCA Y Connectors"

You do NOT want to take a power lead off of one amp and pass it to the other. You take a 4 guage wire with a 60 amp or bigger fuse from the battery to a power spiltter block. Then out of the block with 8 gauge wire to the amps. Both the POS & NEG wires. Here is a pic from my install. You cant see the fuse on the 4 guage(thicker) POS wire that is hooked to the battery. As for the RCA's You can get a Y-cord to split them. Now for the tricky part I. You have to be careful of the ohms (4 or 8) of the speakers and the ratings of the amps. If the speakers are 4 ohms then there is no problem. If they are 2 ohm, you need to check the amp and what its power is at 2 ohms. If the 250w rating of the amp is at 4 ohms then usually it is 500w at 2 ohm. If this is the case, then you might cause damage to the speakers. Tricky part II, the ratings that you are going by you need to make sure that you are not mixing up RMS(continous) and Peak. A 250w peak speaker generally handles 125w RMS.

using a splitter is a smarter way to do it... but it's not necessary on a couple of 225 watt amps...

You will be 99% safe if you daisy chain them. The only reason is that if something does happen to one amp, you run a slight chance of ruining the other. If there is a big draw on the far amp, the near amp's fuse should pop to protect it. Short cuts lead to nothing good. Better to do it right the first time IMO. Plus this makes it easier to expand on, like a 4 channel amp. We all know that the audio bug is contagious. Then the video bug catches on, THANKS GRINNER hahha. I keep telling myself that I'm done, but then I remember, rear passenger monitors hahaha. Have fun!

i would not do the "daisy chain" method except for maybe the remote wire.

def. go for the dist. block method but dont forget to fuse each wire coming out of it.

so even put a fuse after the splitter for both wires?

im just gunna get 2 differnt grounds insteaad of buying ANOTHER splitter

one of my amps has a input output for the rca's so insead of gettin a y harness im just gunna run the rca's from the cd player to the input, then output the rca's to the other amp.

whats the smalles gage power wires i can go for here, one amp is 220max nd anothe rone is 250max

You lucky to have the pass-thru connectors for the RCA's, that is a good plan. Now for the grounds, yes you can run 2 wires to a COMMON ground, this way you will cut down the chance of the alternator whine noise. I wouldnt go less than 8 guage. The purpose of the inline fuses are incase the insulation of the power cable is compromised and a short deveolps. Here is a chart of amp vs wire guage vs length wiring chart basically every 100w draws 16 amps of power. 8 guage has a 100 amp capacity and 4 gauge has 150 amp capacity. So going by the way that you are thinkin, if I understand you correctly. You can use 8 gauge pair with an 60amp fuse on the pos cable for each amp. This is how I started out, but wanted to clean the install up and allow for expansion and went with the way it is in the picture. Hope this helps you out.

I would get a couple of distrobution blocks, it will be the safest way, here are a couple of pics of mine. one is the positive w/ a breaker and the other is neg. IMO i would get dis blocks!
