Default J L Audio Clean Sweep

I just had a J L AUDIO CLEAN SWEEP CL441dsp OEM Interface/Processor installed in my 05 magnum R/T after I just ripped out a high to low input converter that you can buy at any car audio shop. The OEM system on the magnums are no joke and actually sound very good, But the potential of the same system put to use through the CLEAN SWEEP is UNBELIEVIBLE! This component will enhance your OEM system far better than any aftermarket unit and for a whole lot less money. Also there is no need to buy any other components unless you like bass like I do and even then all you need is to add a amplifier and a subwoofer box and your done. I got a small 300 watt rockford fosgate amplifier and a pre-fabricated box housing 2 12" woofers and now I got more bass then I can stand, the bass setting on my OEM system is on 3 and my amp turned up only half way and its still too loud. I will post pics soon.

I am very anxious to see your pics on this.

So did you set the master volume control on the clean sweep to something and then still use the radio or possibly steering wheel audio controls to control the volume while driving??

this looks like an awsome piece of equipment. i'm REALLY curious to hear what difference it makes in sound quality on an Infinity system in a Ram Quad.

The infinity system in the Dodge Ram is pretty flat. There is a slight rise in the low end when you turn the volume down but that's about it. If you added the CleanSweep, you would gain the advantage of the Aux input with linear volume control and an 8V capable line driver. It would not have to work very hard to make any corrections.
The Boston systems that Chrysler uses are heavily EQ'd and are excellent cadidates for CleanSweep.

I guess I never saw the point in a CleenSweep on a completely oem system. The reason the factory system is EQ'ed is because it's usually lacking in a particular area. Defeating these settings, in my undertanding, would hurt the sound even more because now there is nothing to compensate for the loss. For example, if a vehicle has low quality speakers with muddy highs, so the factory bumps up the higher freq. with the EQ to compensate. It seems that taking away that compensation would just make things sound worse.

I thought the major advantage to the CleenSweep was adding after market amplifiers and equipment to a factory radio and getting a perfectly flat signal with adequete voltageto work with. Which still never made sense because you can get a decent aftermarket HU for as much as a CS retails for.

But a lot of installers sear by the thing so I could be completely missing something and maybe somone can explain....

ya im upgrading all the speakers and add a sub. the point of the cleansweep is keep the factory look. and some factory decks control the lights, door locks, etc. so removing it would suck.

Never heard of a factory headunit that controlled door locks, lights, etc. Besides older Honda's which had the keyless entry module attached to a cavity on top of the factory radio, but that could always be removed and kept intact behind the new radio.Newer GM's and Chyslers douse the factory radio to control data functions like OnStar, door chimes, diagnostics, ect. But there are harnesses out there that will retain all of these functions without any issues. Basically, 99% of the timethe factory radio can be changed an retain almost, if not all factory functions. There are only a few exceptions, like older Taurus/Sables with electronic climate controls, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

But some people absolutely insist on keeping the factory radio for the looks. Never understood why... but oh well.
