Default Intermittent Radio Problem

'04 Ram 1500 has had 2 aftermarket radios replaced within the past year. Both radios manifested the same problem. Each radio would play for an hour or so then continue with power to the radio but no volume. After parking the truck and waiting a few hours or more the radio volume would come back on but the cycle then starts over again. This issue happened once after I drove the truck through a carwash. I'm sure Best Buy, the radio vendor, will replace the radio but I don't think the radio is the issue. Internet research indicates the radio antenna might be the culprit. It is a blue tooth compatible radio and I do use this function. What if I disconnect the factory antenna cable to see if the problem goes away? Is it worth a try? Your thoughts?

Sure. It’s worth a try.
