Default 02 stratus coupe speaker help

I just got new Polk DB690 speakers for my 02 stratus, and I can't seem to get the factory speakers out. I can get the rear deck off, and unscrew the speakers. However there is something else holding them down, it looks like some sort of epoxy or something. Does anyone know of a way to get this thing free? I don't wanna go in there with a heat gun, not knowing if it will work, and possibly damage the speakers. Thanks for any help.

If you can show us some pics that would help even more. Best advice from what I can tell though would be to take a flathead screw driver and pry them out.

well, if I don't have a camera to show a pic or anything. But I did try prying with a screwdriver, didn't get very far though. I have done speakers before in other cars and they usually stick a bit the first time u pull them out. This is something totally new to me.

Ok well if you really dont give what happens to your factory speakers take a soap/water combination and sponge around the speaker and see where that gets you, IF you dont care.
