System specs???
factory garbage is the rating. Infinity made the speakers but they aren't infinity speakers, so to speak.
Being a factory system it don't really matter what the amp is rated for, they probably lied about it anyway. They lied about it being an infinity speaker so whats to stop them lying about the rest.
Its cheap and easy enough to try good speakers on the factory system to see if its good enough for you, if not then add an amp.

I just spent the day replacing all 4 speakers in 98 Durango. Every speaker (except the tweets) was like a bees nest buzzing away. My wife drives it and has kids in it all the time so beleive me this system had not really been cranked up often.
I found out that the stock speakers are pure garbagebag paper cone foam surround CR@P. There was a 6.5 fullrange in the front wired to the tweeters (which I also now suspect are paper cone junk) and a 6.5 coax in the rear. I left the front tweeters hooked up but the tweeters in the new alpine coaxs I installed blows them away.
I am suprised that this is an infiniti speaker because its low end oem trash.
Does anyone know if there is an extra amp in this truck? Where is it? My friend has a 98 jeep with the same system it appears but he has an infiniti amp under one of the rear seats and that was A stock system too. But the speakers are the same and the head unit. Funny thing is the speakers in his Jeep are all shot too.
Tell you what though replace those factory speakers and it sounds pretty good and loud enough as long as you adjust the eq accordingly. You cant shape the eq like a V and expect it to sound good cranked. replacing them was SIMPLE, took about 2.5 hours for all 4 and that wasn't rushing through it.

probably between 10-20 watts rms. I would not reccomend giving them any more power than a headunit.

Believe it or not those are Infinity speakers. They are just OEM Infinitiy's. I just replaced speakers in my 05 Dakota QC. You will hate yourself for not sticking with component speakers. Putting coax's up front will not do this system any justice at all. I replaced the fronts with Pheonix Gold ZR6.5's. Had to use a hole saw to make the opening for the 1" tweets. Looks a little ghetto with the top of the "Infinity" stock tweet cover but oh well had to get better sound. Before hand had too turn the treble way up and the bass sounded like ***. Now have to turn the treble way down and way better bass. Will have better bass after I stuff the speaker cavities with poly fill. As far as the factory amp- It is listed at 276 watts. Split that in half for the rms. Split that by 2 and that should be the rms you get too each side, 4 ohm of course. Get a decent set of components in there and it doesn't sound half bad for a stock HU system. The amp is probably located behind the front passenger kick panel. You'll crap when you see all the wires coming and going from that thing. If that amp happens to crap out on you, go after market and pull new wires for the speakers. That amp runs about $500 according to a tech friend of mine at the dealer where I bought my Dak.

Yup, factory Infinity amplifiers will put out around 5-15 watts rms per channel.

Unless you mean 40rms total output from all four channels.
