The stock headunit dsp remains intact with an add on piece like that. All that piece(s) does is take hu signal (dsp on or not) and converts it to a clean voltage output rather than a speaker level output. There are a few options out on the market for Aux inputs but and aftermarket hu solution is the best way to go for a better sound and aux inputs...most found on mid to high level hu's btw.

The reason why I want to go this route is I want to keep the stock look.

My last comment was aimed towards JLTD. Bottom line...you can't have your cake and eat it too......that's so cliche, but it fits.

Keep the stock hu, get a line converter of some sort add a 4 channel amp, and replace your stock speakers (won't be seen anyway, so it'll still look stock). You'll get a level of sound at or below that of an aftermarket hu (if you get one like those in a couple posts up) with the stock look. I've been there, done that, so this is just personal experience. I'm older now so simple for me is way better than complex.

That was my plan. I have the rears already replaced with Infinity Kappa 5x7's I had in my garage. I will order one more set for the fronts. I am going to get the Infinity Basslink II 250W, and the module for it that has 4 channels. 50Wrms each. I am not looking for loud, just clean.

Are you going to add tweeters, or do you already have those?

I have the 2-way and they have the tweeters on them. But they come with crossover box, and the tweeters and the wolfer cones have their own wires. The speaker wires come from the source, then go into the crossover box, and split.

here is what I got

Just to add my .02 of corrective info here. You can indeed repace a factory radio and retain the steering wheel controls thanks to PAC. This option has been available for years now.

Keep us posted when you get your system finished i would love to hear how everything turns out. I’m really interested to see what kind of sound quality it will produce compared to an aftermarket HU. Best of luck man

Thanks, I will give an update, but don't expect one for a while. Getting married definatly delays finances. Who Knew?[sm=confused06.gif]
I just added the Kappa 6x8's(5x7's) to the front this weekend. We are having our employee sale so picked the pair up for the fronts. If it wasn't for my wedding coming up this weekend and honeymoon, I would have got the BasslinkII and module. Hopefully the sale will still be going on when I get back. I can say just replacing the speakers has helped. But still needs improvement. I am going to put the Basslink w/ the 4 channel module in first and see how much that cleans up anything. If I want more then I will get a signal processor. Those are pricey, so that is why I am doing the route I am going in.
