Default what type of speakers?

hello,
I'm about to buy a '92 Dodge Pickup.
I was hoping to find out why size speakers it can hold to see if the speakers from my last truck will fit. does anyone know what kind of speakers this truck holds?

Thanks,
Larry

Check out Crutchfield.com. Their website lets you enter your vehicle and they tell you what fits.

One thing you have to watch out for at Crutchfield is if you have speakers that are a non-standard size, like the 3-inch factory speakers in my 2004 Intrepid SXT. Only Dodge/Chrysler make speakers that size, so Crutchfield doesn't even list that location on the website. It took me 30 minutes chatting online with one of Crutchfield's clueless service reps to finally come to this conclusion. Basically, if Crutchfield doesn't list it, you're gonna probably have to find or fabricate a bracket to fit a standard sized speaker.

Was it That bad when you spoke to the Crutchfield folks?
I spent some time on them on behalf of my brother trying to figure out a bunch of different things for my brotherse Xterra and I thought the guy I had was pretty good. Maybe you got a dud/new guy?

I always thought that was their claim to fame- doing the whole customer service thing..?

Here's a log of the conversation. Pay attention to my initial question...

Jenny Hi, Will.
Jenny Welcome to Crutchfield Sales Chat. How may I help you today?
You Hi, Jenny. I was just browsing through the site, checking what would fit my new 2004 Dodge Intrepid SXT.
Jenny I'll be happy to help.
You I noticed that there are only a few sizes listed that fit my vehicle, ranging from 5 1/4" to 6x9, but my car has a 6 speaker system and two of the speakers are either 3 1/2" or 4". I was wondering if you'd happen to know which they are.
Jenny Did your vehicle come with the standard factory stereo or did it come with the Infinity stereo upgrade option?
You If it had the Infinity option, would it say Infinity on the deck somewhere?
Jenny Sure.
You Then no, I just have the standard factory stereo.
Jenny Okay.
Jenny 6x9" is best for the back.
You right
Jenny But, we do have brackets to fit 5.25" or 6.5"
You for the front doors...
Jenny 5.25" or 6.5" are both a great fit.
Jenny Did you want help choosing?
You Okay, so a pair of 6x9 in the rear deck, and a pair of either 5.25 or 6.5 in the front doors. That accounts for 4 out of the 6 speakers in the system.
You What I'm interested in are the other 2 speakers.
Jenny Do you have dash speakers?
Jenny That means you have the Infinity system.
Jenny Are you sure there is a speaker there or just the grille?
You no, they're actually mounted inside a plastic "pod" where the door meets the window. They're definitely speakers; I've heard music coming out of them. Just above the grille it says "Premium Audio"
Jenny Okay, that also indicates Infinity.
Jenny Those are a non-standard factory size.
Jenny You can replace them with an aftermarket tweeter if you're willing to make your own mounting bracket.
You That's odd; they seem to be from the factory; and all the other information I've read about that model of car from that year indicates that they all come with 6 speakers.
Jenny It does and they are.
Jenny But, they are a non-standard size.
Jenny The only place you would get that size would be from your dealership.
You Oh, so you're saying that only Dodge makes speakers that size?
Jenny You got it.
Jenny You will need to make a bracket to mount aftermarket speakers in that location.
Jenny An aftermarket tweeter.
You Sounds like a plan, I'll check that out. Thanks a lot
