Default Dual subs

Ok, so heres the deal. i have two 12" Dual illuminite subs in the ported box they came in. i dont really like the way they sound, its alot of vibration but not good quality deep bass. i was wondering if i put them in a box that isnt ported.... will they sound better? o, btw, i have a 46o watt amp.

thanks in advance

check the magent to see if there is a hole if there is they are self ported and you can put them in a sealed box.
they will thump harder

A vented pole peice has NOTHING to do with wether it can be in a sealed box or not. If you can't find what size sealed box it is supposed to be I would guess 1 cf for each sub would be ok. I think you would like sealed better....but you wont really know until you listen.

Your real problem is that they are Dual and they are garbage and you wasted money and bought crap.

yea, this is my first car and im only 15 so i just kinda got somethin cheap...... but they also did sound good in the store, but now in my car they sound like crap. they literally sound alot better outside of the car than on the inside. this is why im wonderin if ported and unported boxes make a difference as far as sound goes.

Sealed can reproduce lows better and a larger freq range. Ported should be louded on certain freq. granted you built the box rite. What kind of car do you have? How do you have the box facing...all that makes a difference.

Your ? is kinda hard to answer. Basically you need to jst try it sealed and see how you like it. Are you jst wanting it louder or do you want them to sound less sloppy and better sounding overall.. Something else, is the sub moving alot with very little sound? Maybe the subs are out of phase. You could try switching your positive and negative connections to see if that makes a difference.

Ill probably just try gettin a new box, or maybe some new subs. but i put my subs in reverse phase and it helped a little, but my main problem with them is just the bass is really sloppy and i really dont care if the bass gets slughtly quieter with a sealed box as long as it isnt too sloppy. but anywayz, thanks for the help so far.
