I would suggest switching out from 6x9's to 6 1/2 components. Takes some more work ( adapter plate for 6 1/2 in 6x9 opening, finding a good place for the tweeters and crossovers, extra wiring) but the results are far and away better than what you get from 6x9's.

they make 6/9 componets why switch to 6 1/2? IF you search online you can find some killer 6/9 componets with tweeters. This will give you great treb and even better mids. Some 6/9s actually give pretty good bass to, pinoeer is known for good bass, but if you dont want components. Go with the Rockford 6/9 4 way speakers (model number is #p1694c) check those out. I use to have 2 sets of 6/9 in my old truck and they sounded prety good with a AM radio, they gave me doors a rattle. Nice bass for no subs.

I would go with whatever you like, alot of people have diffrent taste in sound and music. I like alot of bass. You might not like that.

Alot of people say that round speakers sound better than 6x9 or non round speakers. Everyone has their own opinion. I tend to agree, but its not a huge difference and unless your a big audiophile you wont notice....or you might not think there is any difference at all.

The sound quality is better with the component systems ..... a lot cleaner, better imaging and sometimes louder than 6x9's if that's your thing. As far as 6x9's go, anything more than a two-way is just overkill. The fewer drivers, the less distortion. Look at your best home systems or commercial systems ....... usually 2 way, rarely 3. Those extra mids on the 3 or 4 or 5 way systems is just show.

I have just installed Kenwood Excelon Dual mags 6x9's in my 05 ram and love the imaging and sound depth I get with them.
