Default Old school sound system questions.

I have a 01 dakota ex cab 4.7.
I am inheriting my step dads fosgate p150 hd and his p45 I want to run the front two speakers offa the 45. I am going to run the p150 with two 10” subs in the mtx thunderform box, and the 45 with the two front speakers. What type of speakers would you recommend to run off the old school fosgate punch 45 and the p150? and is it worth the effort to put in the rear speakers? or should I remove them and use the connection for the subs?

I dont know the specs of those amps just by the numbers. It sounds to me like you plan to use the stock speaker wiring to connect aftermarket speakers/amps. Dont do it, especially to your sub. The stock speaker wiring is probably about 22 ga wire, which I wouldnt try to run the subs with. If that p45 is a 4 channel amp, I'd say definetly replace the rear speakers also. Find out what kind of power the amps are pushing and then match some speakers to it.

The stock wiring to the speakers will be fine. How much are you wanting to spend on speakers. I'm taking it your running the stock head unit?

I already have speaker wiring that’s no problem. I was just going to hack off the back speakers to run into my sub amp. (the punch 150 HD is 75 watts Rms per channel) and Just so you know these old school amps must be good, they don’t come cheap I have seen the 150 hd go for well over $200.

the p45 is a 2ch 35rms at 2 ohms and 22rms at 4 ohms

I was thinking about $90.00 for the front speakers, 90.00 for the subs (I don’t mind buying old punches) and around $140.00 for a nice mp3/cd player. Any recommendations?

Those amps put out a decent amount of power more than the ratings. 90 for both subs?

well I decided to get a Pioneer DEH-P3800MP from crutchfield. so i'll just run rca's to the amps from the preamp outs.
I am thinking about buying the 10" fosgate punch stage 1 and tRockford Fosgate P152C's to keep it orignal "fosgate"
