Default deck installation problem

hey guys! i'm new to the board, and here goes my first post. I was wiring up an aftermarket stereo and I followed the directions with the wiring harness ( for a 2001 Dodge dakota) And there is a ground tab(?) i didnt put in that was left off. anywho, when i tried driving at night, i noticed that the cab lights didnt work, the ones that illuminate the dash and the trim and such. I was wondering if you guys have any input or can show me any threads that might have any info on how i can solve this problem. Thanks!

you dont, its the illumination wire. The only reason for that wire is when you dim your indash lights your headunit will dim to, useally there isnt a wire, so just electric tape the wire off or crimp it off so it cant touch anything, along with the ground illumination also its a orange wire with a white stripe, w/e you do dont connect the orange with the orange/white wire.. bad things will happen.

So to answer your question. Dont hook it up, tape it off.

Do you have tweeters in you a-pillars? The infinity system is the "upgraded" stock system.

useally if you have the upgraded sytem "infinity" then you have tweeters, witch means you got a stock amp and a crossover, when you install a new deck you have to bypass the amp. As for the the illumination i really dont understand what the problem is? Are you saying that you CANT dim your lights in your cab, or you can, or they dont work?

Also have you hooked the orange wire up yet? If so what happend?

Sometimes its a ground cable that causes lights to do that. But honestly i dont understand your problem, tell me what exactly is happening.
