Sound Systems
depends on what you want. if you like a lot of bass that drowns out all music get some subs but if you actually like music i would suggest getting a new headunit, umgrading all interior speakers (and maybe adding a couple) and un an amp to power it all
2-400, you can get a decent head unit for that. but i mean how gooda quality are you looking for? as spikeymikey was asking, what exactly are yo ulooking to do? you can get some cheap flub blub subs and an amp for 400 that will do nothing but pound, if thats what your looking for.
otherwise upgrade as you can afford. get a good headunit, as it all starts there. i have eclipse, good sound quality. then upgrade your front speakers with some good components with the next $400. finally upgrade your rears, put your fronts and rears on external amplifiers and then add your subs. it may take, depending on your budget, even a year or so to build up your system, but in the end youll have an awsome well rounded system that CAN pound, but also has crystal highs and astonishing mids. your car will be just like a concert venue!!!
