Default System set up for Rap/Hip-Hop

Hey you guys,

I want to upgrade my stock system to fit my music preference. I listen to mostly Rap and hip hop but I HATE when people have WAY TOO much bass that makes the song sound retarted. I was looking at an all alpine set up (head unit, amp, subs, speakers). Is this too over the top? I am looking for nice pounding in the bass area but not too much. I listen to rock as well so i would like a system that can make both type of songs great but preferably Rap and hip hop. Any suggestions?

Thanks

what kinda car/truck you got there? if its a trruck, stick with some 10's. if you have a car, get 12's then. it will make both of your music preferences sound sick. yeah, the alpine setup sounds well rounded. because when you buy a nice little package like so, it has the overall thingy. know what i mean?

agreed. not only is alpine well rounded but also verry dependable and durable...

i use the alpine cda 9843 head unit (60x4)
and with my fosgate p-3001 i run 2x alpine type E subs.

not only that but i've had everything for well over a year and not a single problem.

i'll agree....Rockford and Alpine are two of the most POPULAR brands.....but they might not be the only brands to consider

i recommend visiting a car audio SPECIALTY shop....stay away from eBay...stay away from Best Buy...stay away from Circuit city.....typically, your best end results will be from dedicated professionals...not internet sellers or kids working at BestBuy, (as opposed to going to work at McDonalds)....and my last piece of advice, if they salesman at ANY shop doesnt ask YOU questions, there's no way he/she can actually design a system for YOU......and one more thing....if anyone tells you MAX or PEAK wattages, turn around and leave their vicinity...they are lying to you and hoping that you are too stupid to know the difference

sweet...sounds like i'll be going with alpine. ive seen those SUB ENCLOSURES on ebay especially for the dodge ram, which is what i have. i was wondering if that will fit 2 10' alpine type R subs? are those good enclosures? does the type of enclosure matter? i am only looking to spend like no more than 600-700 for EVERYTHING. I am only looking at 2 10' Type R subs, standard head unit (nothing fancy), any alpine amp to run the subs, and some good CLEAR speakers.

Retailers of car audio products are complete dumbasses too. you will get screwed. one of my friends paid over 1000$ for a remote start. the people at circuit city are horible with installations as for leaving showing wires and pinched connections. i dont know i got a friend who works at best buy. the discount is nice. and also your seeking RMS wattage. not max or peak. most of the car audio people are reading from infomation sheets or cue cards. not from personal experience. <--whenever they try to sell.

DONT BUY ANYTHING FROM E-BAY! YOURE BETTER OFF MAKING YOUR OWN FIBERGLASS BOX OR PAYING SOMEONE TO MAKE YOU ONE. IS THERE A TWEETERS BY YOU SOMEWHERE? IF SO, GO THERE, THE DUDES WORK THERE ON COMMISSION. TELL THEM YOU'LL GIVE THEM 20-30 BUCKS IF THEY HOOK IT UP. THEY WILL! TRUST ME. THEY WILL RATHER HOOK IT UP THAN SAY NO.

He already has the box. Measure how far from the top of the bax to the back on the inside of that box. Then look at the mounting depth of the sub, if you have an inch more depth in the box than the sub says its mounting depth, you are ok. While your at it, jst measure the diameter of the hole for the sub to make sure it isnt too big for some weird reason.
