Default Replacing 96 Ram Infinity Sound Sys

Have a 96 Indy Ram, want to replace the speakers. I replaced the H/U a year ago, now I want to upgrade the speakers. I tried by starting w/ the front speakers. I pulled the F/L and discovered the speaker is attached by a plug (w/ 4 wires BLK, Red, Grey, and GRN). I tried to cut the plug off and tested each wire for "juice" I noticed that the Red is hottest followed by the BLk and GRN, Grey seems to be the only NEG. With all of that said, when I started trying the wires I could barely hear the sound coming from the speakers. What do I do? Once I figure out the front, will the rear be the same problem?

The rears arent amped, jst the front. I havent messed with an infinity system in a while, so its kinda hard to say without looking..um I would jst run some new wire to the speakers. You could either run all new wire or try to splice into the factory wire.
Gray=Right Front +
Gray/Black=Right Front -
White=Left Front +
White/Black= Left -
If you can find those wires in the door you could jst splice into those.
