The amp powers the front speakers...If it isnt hooked up you will still have sound jst not as much and it will sounds lik crap. But dont use the power ant wire use the blue/white acc power or remote turn on lead wire, some companies call it different things but its always blue/white You said you have no sound at all with the new head unit....you should still have some sound....

I had the same problem with my son's 95 Ram 1500, stock head unit shutting off and on by it's self, speakers doing the same thing,I replaced the factory head unit with an after market using the factory wiring and factory speakers, still had the same problems, ended up replacing the stock speakers, front and rear, and ran new speaker wiring for all the speakers, problem solved.

The antenna wire is jst if you have a power antenna....whitch you dont have. To get radio stations jst hook up the antenna to the antenna input on the radio...im not sure if yours has a wire with a plug that comes out or if you connect your rite into the back of the radio itself.

Ken
The Ant. wire wouldnt keep your Radio from playing unless the radio isnt grounded, then the Ant. would act as a ground and would have to plug in for the unit to work. Like I said earler I'm not an expert but I have never ran across an ant. plug that wouldnt fit in any radio. You might try checking the back of the radio again to make sure your trying to plug it in in the right hole (dont laugh I had a problem getting it in the hole too)But if that isnt the case I'm sure they would make an adaptor.

I got this info from Installdr.com about the wiring digram for the plugs

Hey Guys I'm back.
I got bored today and decided to find that Damn relay once and for all. I found it. It is under the Radio and is attached to some kind of coil. The picture shows the relay plug and the coil. I called the dodge place to order a replacment only to find out there is no such thing. I did some searching and did find asebring relay that will work. The pictures are What the Vandels did to my dash and the other picture is the location of the plug for the relay.

Oh and if anyone needs wiring diagrams for theDodge RAM 1500.I have it just email me.

do you have the speaker wires conected behind the radio?
this is a posable problem.. if they are you could be amping the speakers from the HU & the Factory amp..
To see if this is the problem just disconect the speaker wire from the new aftermarket hu & see if anything changes..
Just my $0.02 see it everyday at work
