Default Is this s good set up?

Alpine 9856 Head Unit (IPOD, XM Radio, HD Radio, MP3...etc)
JL Audio 12W1 x 2
TMA 500-2 Amplifier (Im guessing 500 Watt and also a 2 channel amp)
Custom MDF Box

Any good?

How much would you guys pay for all this?

The shop guy said for me to upgrade the amp to a 4-channel amp to get either better quality sound coming out of the speakers or to just get rid of all the bass in them. Is he right?

its ok for a beginner...what kind of vehicle will this be going in?? if your counting on monstrous bass...you will be highly dissapointed...if ur looking to add some low end...its a good start...what kinda speakers and amp u have for highs...?they matter just as much as your subs and sub amp does...a good system isnt just about BASS...its about the overall quality of music...anybody can put a thumper in a vehicle...but having all components working together...is what makes it...

its all going into a 2006 dodge ram. they are going to be mounted under teh rear seats. So therfore the custom under seat enclosure will be used. why would i highly be disappointed with teh bass? is it because the subs aren't good enough? what subs give you a nice hard thump then? the speakers i have are the factory speakers that dodge gives you. someone told me that the factory speakers are infinity...but i am not sure on that... i am not running an amp for the speakers. i run the speakers off the HU.

Those jl's will give you bass...they jst arent huge power handling monsters. Even if you do have the Infinity upgraded system in your truck putting new front speakers and powering them with an amp would make a huge difference in sound. It sounds like a fine start tho....

is it a good idea to run BASS through your speakers? I have noticed that i can get a way bigger "bump" when i add bass through them. Which shouldn't be a surprise to anybody but is it safe? will i blow the speakers? i just dont want to damage them by putting bass through them.

Are factory DODGE RAM 1500 speakers made by INFINITY?

yes and no...lower frequencies at moderate to high volumes can damage ANY front speaker...i dont care how much they tell you 'man these front speakers really put it down...or...really hold their own'...no thats what a subwoofer is for...i would HIGHLY suggest you invest in crossovers...i forget what they were...used to sellem at best buy...but basically it protects your front speakers by limiting the frequencies they recieve...talk to your local audio shop about it...just FYI do NOT...and i repeat...DO NOT walk into circuit city/best buy...etc...etc...asking questions...most of the time for me...i embarassed the salesman...and they always tried to say rockford fosgate and kenwood was the best equipment out there..

dont put 12's in your truck, the sound quality will not be so great. it will be unclear. 10's or smaller is your best choice for subs because they require less airspace which means they can fit into most places 12's and bigger can't.
