Default Wiring in dash speakers (04 Ram)

My truck has the non-infinity 4 speaker stereo with cd player. I recently purchased some Memphis 6x9 speakers and 5.25 speakers to replace the stockers, as well as a 65x2 amp with speaker level inputs. I want to keep the factory head unit, but I would also like to add the 3.5" speakers in the dash if possible. since the amp doesnt need a lot of power from the head unit as an input signal, could I split the wire going to the amp (the original wire going to the door speakers) and run it to the dash? Or how would this be possible? I dont need them to be loud, just a lil fill. Thanks!

Yes you could, but as you know they wouldn't be amplified, so they probably wouldnt be very noticable. Why don't you run the dash and door speakers in parallel off the front channels, and then the rears off the rear channels? That amp should be 2-ohm stable stereo.

Also, expect to cut off about 1/8" - 1/4" all the way around the cut-out in the door to get those 6x9's to fit. The factory hole is a tad smaller than most aftermarket 6x9's. Basically get rid of where the metal rolls into the door and they will fit just fine. Watch out for the window motor too. It's close call for that as well.

It's a 2channel amp, so bridging wouldn't work... I didnt think of wiring the door/dash speakers together to 2ohm stereo off the amp... I just don't want the dash speakers louder than the door speakers (although I doubt that would happen, 3.5 vs 6x9).. Hmm, thanks for the reply!

Yeah I didnt mean to say bridged, I meant run in parallel, I was editing my message as you were replying I think lol. I added some more to it also so go look back at it.

Cool thanks, so you think 50w to each door and dash speaker, then the 5.25's in the rear off the head unit would sound good? I just want the dash speakers to be noticible, not loud. I'm trying to find some 3.5's with high sensitivity to run off the head unit, so I can keep the 65x2 @ 4ohm to the doors..

thanks

I was thinking you had a 4-channel amp. Why don't you buy a 4-channel amp. Or is it??? Run the dash and doors off the front channels at 2-ohms, and the rears at 4-ohms. That way you'll still have fader and balance and all the speakers will be amped. And you also have 2 gain controls so you can fine tune the level of the rears and fronts so they are evenly matched volume wise.

With a 2-channel, you've already lost fader and your already running each channel at 2-ohms so you can't add anymore speakers onto it.

Yeah, I have already purchased the amp and its 2 channel, so I guess I'm out of luck. I'll either just not put any in the dash or just give them head unit power from splitting the speaker wire going to the amp signal. Thanks for the help.

I really don't think buyign the extra 2 3.5's would be worth it without amping.
