aiight guys i got an 05 ram 1500 sing. cab. i put in a 7in. flip touch screen. i need a system . i dont wanna spend too too much on it but im looking for 2 12" subs and a amp. now what brand / wattage do i need? i want it to hit pretty hard. but i know its limited cuz i dont wanna spend a whole lot of money b ut. i was thinkin bout kicker cvr 12's and i have no clue what amp . help me out ! thanks!

 

kicker is about middle of the road...i think if you can afford it...youd be more then pleased with the sound...is this a regular cab...or extended cab...im assuming its a regular cab...shoot...if you can get them comp vr's to fit in there...by all means do it...for them two subs i would get a kicker 750.1=750 watts at 2 ohms...but kicker amps are underrated i got mine...havent installed it yet...and the birth certificate says 935 watts rms...but...to each his own...i havent heard many people dog kicker...just whatever you do...dont go with rockford fosgate...they are garbage!!...last but not least...a 'system' isnt just about bass...dont forget mids and highs need attention too...otherwise...you might end up sounding like the little hoopties that get driven by teenagers around here...all bass...=o) please post pics when you get it all in there...good luck and have fun

I do agree with the above in that a system jst isnt subs.........The kickers are fine subs, if you like them by all means get them. I also agree the 750.1 would work pretty good with these subs... http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=3788
I do not agree that fosgate is garbage.....that statement is jst dumb.

 

I like Alpine the best. Never had any problems with any Alpine stuff. I have a SC Dakota with 2x 10" Type E with a 400wat amp and a 500wat amp kit.

For a single cab truck.. 10's will sound amazing, if you listen to alot of rock like myself, 10's will actually sound better then 12's. 10s are alot tighter bass, 12's are going to give you the deep bass that rap has. I dont listen to rap, except for Akon lol.. and rap still sounds damn good on 10's.

If i was you i would get..

2x 10" Type E Subs = about $270
2x Truck Box = $160
1x 400wat Alpine Amp = $210
1x Amp kit = $70

or switch out the 400wat amp with a 600wat Alpine amp spend an extra 100 and hit the peaks on the subs, 300rms at 2ohm for each sub.

Cost about 710-810 to do it like that.

I got those prices from my work, Best Buy. I work back in the car audio department.

If you have a best buy by your house, cheack the ads each sunday and we have system packages each week. Somtimes Alpine, and instead of spending 710-810 it would only be like 510 saves you about 300 bucks.

Like i said, i have this setup in my SC Dakota with the 400wat amp and its killer. Raddels my radar, cant see out my review mirror or my side mirrors, and people will def. hear you coming.

 

You take the same model sub,yes a 12 should play lower than a 10, but if you take 2 different model subs sometimes the 10 can play lower. And really a 12 will play jst as tight as a 10 it jst has to have more power........but alot of ppl do prefer 10's for rock/metal/etc. I like 10's for trucks bcuz they require much less space and space isnt your best friend in a single cab.

i guess to each their own...i mean...everyone around here that had rockford back in the day always had problems...i never messed with it...also seen articles where rockford fosgate amps were not regulated...so they were getting to hot...instead of cooling off they caught fire...but hey...ive never owned rockford anything...except for once...when i went to best buy...and bought a rockford sub...just to watch it flex and fry(yeah free-air@25 hz was pretty cool...but ya know...its like the saying goes...opinions are like ******** everyone has them...sorry for just giving my opinion

 

oh and habeba...that wasnt towards you...just so you know...like i said everyone has their own opinion...but to say 'haha you have no ideal what your talking about' why would you attack an individual simply for stating his opinion?...if i have no ideal about what im talking about...then whiteram i would be honored to have YOUR opinion in what he should do for his setup...since i dont know anything right?? by the way habeba...is memphis any good?? i mean i hear people talking about them...but theres a stereo shop that is an authorized retailer down the road...and they lost TWO deals due to lack of knowledge...especially today...(will post the thread tommorrow) which is why after this afternoon i REALLY questioned the credibility of memphis...ive never heard them...just seen them...but...enough of my babbling and rambling...lets get some more ideas in here...

 

No I completely understand not liking a company bcuz of this or that....I personally dont really care for fosgate alot either, but to say they are garbage jst isnt true....plain and simple. As for Memphis they are a very good company. Their amps put out what they are rated, maybe a bit more, but not much. Their subs are great! For their speakers I dont really have any experience with them...I have seen alot of good reviews, but I have never heard them.

 

well TRASH if you've never used rockford amps for awhile then dont diss them an call them garbage i've used the 351 mono,bd 1000, punch 360, 400.4 never seen a prob,even runned the 360 at 1 ohm an its not even stabled at 1ohm,as for the setup, if you want to save money go to cructhfield an grab you 2 12" compvrs dual 4ohm for 149 both ,free shipping,then get on ebay an grab u a hifonics bxi606 mono amp for around 150 to 175 an run them at 1ohm that will be 600 watts plenty enough to power then but not to over power them,an TRASH if i wanted to attack i would,but hey this is just my opinion,"why would you attack an individual simply for stating his opinion" an you call that attack u called rockford garbage then u must have not used rockford enough to call them garbage
