Default Electrical system capacity

Hopefully I can keep this from being too confusing..

How many amps is the factory alternator ('04 Hemi..)?

How much extra capacity is there? like... I want to know how much power I can run with the stereo system without putting a strain on anything, without the lights dimming, etc...

You have a 105 amp alternator. you can put up to a 1000 watt peak amp at 450 watts RMS. You can add a stiffening capacitor so you can run more watts with out overdrawing your electrical system. Http://www.millionbuy.com is where I get all my stuff. Best bang for your buck for a capacitor is the Blitz one.

I was running 1000rms on my stock ram alternator....I know lots of ppl who run 1k+ of power on stock alternators......but you will get bad dimming and voltage drops....A cap wont help if your electrical system cant handle the system in the first place, spend your money on upgrading the battery or alt or rewire the system with larger wire. Its called the big 3(some do 4) You run a new battery ground, alt ground, and power from the alt to battery. If your request a build sheet from Dodge, it will tell you how big our alt is. When I find the link ill post it. But to the point of how big of a system can you run without stressing the system...I will agree 500rms is about the biggest and you might still get slight dimming with that.

Thanks guys.. I know a guy that can rewire alternators to put out slightly more amperage. would this help me?

I will most likely do the Big 3 upgrade... No capacitors will be purchased for me...

GOOD!!!! lol It might help re-wiring the alt, but I wouldnt worry about it till you put the system in and see how it effects your electrical system...
