just installed head unit and sub, now speakers are scratching that werent before
i just installed a new alpine head unit and mtx subwoofer. the stock system worked fine but no cd player. how ever now that ive got the new stuff in the stock speakers are scratching from about medium on up volume. anyone have any ideas? (and its not the scratching like the bass is turned up so the speakers are just sound like crap)
Seems like you are describing distortion. Are your speakers playing louder or softer than they where with the stock HU? You may wish to turn off the sub to determine this. Most often when using a sub and an amp you would be well served to have an amp for your speakers as well.
they were* playing clearer at a high level before. now it gets to about level 9 and they start scratching.

The sub is overpowering the other speakers. Either turn down the sub to blend better, or get an amp for your speakers so they can be louder without distrortion.
lets start fresh.
the speakers were perfectly fine before at any level.
now i installed the alpine head unit, and the speakers are now scartching at level 9 and up, and the head unit goes all the way up to 30.
other people are saying because the head unit puts out a little more power than the stock one thats why im getting it, but ive put head units in other cars and never had this problem.
