this past sunday DC's sterling stamping plant in sterling heights michigan had their 40th year open house, one of the displays was the process of making the 2006 charger's hood (inner & outer stamping and assembly) the hood is all alum. and looks just like the green car sketch in car & driver. i talked to one of the die makers and he told me that they will only give as much info as he needs to build the hood, and nothing more.

It looks bland and Boring! Im seriously dissapointed in Dodge because they didnt do jack to the side of that car. Its not unique at all... Not to mention that magnum look. I'd fire those designers of Dodge in an instant! [:@][:@][:@][:@][:@]

Is it the Charger?

Did anyone see the badge?

Or is it another name?

As far as I know, no one has seen any official badging on the cars in those pictures, nor the black car spied earlier. However, they all look virtually identical to the green car published in Car and Driver, which was labeled as being the new Charger. The jury is still out.

Pre-production vehicles don't have badges...

There are supposed to be 19 new models coming out in the next few years and I know the Stratus/Sebring are due out soon. They are to get bigger and share the platform with the Mitsubishi Galant. The rear of the latest Charger pictures [spy shots and drawings] have the Galant tail section. So we could be seeing the new Stratus or it could be a Magnum sedan. Dodge isn't letting anything out and I wouldn't doubt they might be leaking some things out just to see the reaction they get.

Looking at these spypics and comparing to a few good shots of the Magnum, I think the grills are very close. The head lights are very close too. Most notable, it has the exact wheels of the Magnum -- I don't think it's very common to see the same wheels on different models. Yes, this sedan has softer lines than the Magnum but it still has a lot of Magnum charateristics. Here's hoping it is something like the Magnum sedan, and not the Charger (unless what turns out to be the Charger is ugly).

One thing I noticed about that car is its door handles. It has the "older style" door handles--not the newer grab-style ones of the 300. I am sure some up-coming car reviewer will point that out.

Other than that, I am impressed by what I can see of this car. It looks ten times better than the C&D atomic lime green depiction.
