Default Chrysler reports international sales up 26% in August

Chrysler reports international sales up 26% in AugustAllpar.comIn August, Chrysler booked 18,556 sales in markets outside North America, an increase of 26% percent over August 2006. Year-to-date (YTD) sales are up 19% to 153,813 units. Chrysler has now recorded 27 consecutive months of year-over-year sales increases."It is important to recognize opportunities outside North America to balance the impact any one region can have on the business," said Michael Manley, EVP of International Sales, Marketing and Business Development. "Our focus of growth outside North America is not only to increase sales internationally, but also to ensure that the growth is balanced among the Company's three brands. Our goal is for Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge to each account for roughly 30 percent of our International sales in 2009." For the month, all three of Chrysler brands reported increased sales compared with last year. Led by the 300C, Chrysler brand sales were up 1% to 5,414 units. Jeep brand deliveries jumped 30% to 7,397 units, thanks to the Jeep Wrangler. Wrangler sales have more than doubled compared to last year. Dodge sales hit 5,745 units, a 56% percent increase. With 14,049 sales through August, Italy remains the top-selling market outside North America, followed by Venezuela which earned the number-two spot for the first time ever with 12,198 YTD sales. The growth in Venezuela and South America is being driven by continued increases in sales of locally-produced vehicles, such as Dodge Caliber and Jeep Grand Cherokee, as well as imported vehicles like the Dodge Ram and Jeep Wrangler. With sales up 36% to 4,478 through August, the rapid growth in Latin America has been a major factor in Chrysler’s overall improvement. The Asia Pacific region, which had the greatest percentage of growth for the month, saw 3,233 sales in August, an increase of 52% over last year. As was true in South America, locally produced vehicles played an important role in the improvement. "With four solid sales months left in the year, we expect that the momentum will continue," said Thomas Hausch - Vice President of International Sales. "During the Frankfurt Motor Show we will present the new Chrysler Grand Voyager, the new Jeep Cherokee and have the world premier of the Dodge Journey. As these new vehicles make their way into markets, we expect further positive results for all three brands' sales." Chrysler sells and services vehicles in more than 125 countries around the world, and sales outside North America currently account for approximately 8% of total global sales. Growth in the international market is one of the five key initiatives outlined by Chrysler CEO Bob Nardelli in a speech to senior company executives earlier this month.

Default RE: Chrysler reports international sales up 26% in August

Question...... Is this inculuding Daimler benze, Stealering trucks, Frieghtliner, or jut the Chrysler name plate, I;m sure the sprinter is a hot item out side of North America.

Best for Chrysler to concentrate on the North American market first, GM and Ford have too manny intrest's and lossing partnerships wourld wide.
