That's Awesome! I was just talking to my girlfriend yesterday about how they need to offer the 5.7 hemi as a crate motor like they do the v10. By adding the carb. version they've gone even one better. Not that I'm against fuel injection (in fact I'll never go back to a carb unless it's in a resto), but it will appeal to a wider market this way. I might even be able to talk my dad into one for the 'cuda now, how convenient that we yanked the old 318 yesterday!

Trouble is that not much is offered for the engine in the way of cams, intakes, valve gear, etc. If you're going to race your car the 360 crate is still the better choice until more parts are available.

The price is crazy too. $8400.00. You can have the best crate 360 they offer or a big block for that money. Heck I think the 500HP 440 is about the same price.

You're talking about Hemi777. His truck is fast, but it's bottle fed and has some practical mods like the catalitic converter, and CAI. If you really want it to go though, the parts aren't there. Yet.

Maybe it is destiny for the ol cuda. I think it would be the perfect engine for that car ('69 fastback BTW). While the points made by others about the lack of performance parts and low horsepower a surely valid they don't really apply to this car. It's no racer, just a cruiser. This winter's plans actually call for some de-tuning of the heavily modded 318 that's in it now to make it more cruise friendly. That was, of course, before the motor took a dive, now the number one priority is to find out why it's got no compression on 2 cylinders. I think the 5.7 would make for a very streetable and very unique cruiser. And for those that cringe at putting a modern motor in a vintage machine I should point out that the car is a drag strip refugee, missing the fender tag and build sheet and is so far from original that it could never be properly restored. We'll save the period correct stuff for the numbers matching (right down to the original date coded plug wires) '68 Cuda ragtop that it shares the garage with.

You'd think for near 9 large it would at least have forged internals.
