New Charger (& 300C too)
Think about how cool it would be if Chrysler used a '68 Charger body, or maybe an AAR Barracuda body, as the initial design templates for a new car body. Then they could really brag about a thoroughbred muscle car true to its heritage! That thought should make the '06 Charger go crawl under a rock and never come out.
the fact of the matter is...if "it being a 4 door doesnt make any difference", then you obviously dont care what it looks like, and youre no better than the retards who buy the holden because its called a GTO...
the charger isnt a charger...its another magnum, with the station wagon feature removed.

And the original Chrager was just a coronet w/ new badges and body panels. You learned to love it. Im sure you'll learn to love the new chrager when you see the ***** it has. Try to think positive.
Good responses...thanks everyone. Sorry if this was beaten to death but I'm a newbie too, and hadn't seen this conversation had taken place already. I guess I'm just not that indifferent to the whole thing. I can say one thing...I'm very glad Chrysler did not go "retro" on the car.
I hate retro and everything that it stands for. Ford Mustang, Chevy SSR, even the Ford GT, all ugly to me. My reasoning is this: it was done once, why does it need to be done a second time? I have no problems with incorporating certain styling aspects of cars that were done in the past, but to do an outright copy of a previous car is just uncreative and uninspiring to me.

People get all balled up worrying about 2-door vs 4-door, and that's fine, it's their opinion. But to me, that isn't nearly as important as the fundamental aspects such as the nose, the body shape, and the tail. Maybe people are upset because they don't think a muscle car should be versatile, maybe people think a muscle car HAS to be impractical and only have one ridiculously long door per side. But I find it hard to believe that the 4-door whiners would be satisfied if they just gave the '06 body 1 long door per side. If that WOULD satisfy those people, then in my opinion, THOSE people are the ones that don't care what it looks like... because it would still look the same as it does now! It would just be a plain-jane 2-door instead of a plain-jane 4-door.
Did you even read the article I attached in post # 8 of this thread? If so, you obviously missed the whole point of it! It's not just a bunch of '4 door whiners' as you so smugly put it. The car just doesn't justify the Charger name.... period! No more than a rebadged Holden deserves to be called a GTO! Just 'cuz it's a rear drive performance V8 DOESN'T justify a mediocre car! The name has a whole lot more in the way of historical significance to Chrysler & Dodge than a door quantity! Go back and read, and as I said previously, this time COMPREHEND what it's telling you!!!!

As for the article... yes, the Charger maybe "should have been" a 2-door, but that still isn't as big of a deal to me as it is to others. I think the more important statement should be "the Charger should LOOK more like a Charger" instead of worrying about number of doors.
