RE: Neon Replacement Spy Photos
They aren't going to get rid of the Neon. The Neon will be back for 2006, on a new platform and will be sharing many compoients w/ the Mitsu Lancer. This however is the new crossover vehicle from Dodge. Read my article Return of the Aspen?: for more information on the new crossover. Also the next generation Sebring and Stratus Sedans and Sebring Convertible will grow in size a bit, to please those buyers who don't want to buy a rear-wheel drive 300 Series, Magnum, or Charger, to make up for the loss of the front-wheel drive 300M, Concorde, and Intrepid. There will be some short wheelbase LX (300 Series, Magnum, and Charger platform) cars, in the near future.

RE: Neon Replacement Spy Photos
The current Neon ends with the 2006 model year, and will receive minimal updates before then. However, here's the good news:
The replacement will be built in Belvedere. It will use the new engine jointly designed by Mitsubishi, Chrysler, and Hyundai, and built in Michigan (and Korea and Japan). There may be a hot optional engine, designed and built by Chrysler, not needing a turbocharger. SRT-4 fans need not fear, that engine is said to take very well to turbocharging.
It is being designed by Chrysler and Mitsubishi engineers. While both are working together on a common platform, the final cars will be different in character. In North America and Europe, the Chrysler version will be used, even when sold under the Mitsubishi name. In Asia, the Middle East, and South America, the Mitsubishi version will be used, even when sold under the Dodge name. The Dodge and Mitsuibshi versions will have unique interiors and exteriors and different suspension tuning when sold in the same market.
The EVO will come to the US as a Dodge, with extensive Chrysler involvement in engineering in the two door version. The four door will be primarily worked on by Mitsubishi engineers, though members of the Neon ACR team are helping them, thanks to their strong rally and SCCA success. (The Neon traces its pedigree back to the Shelby Dodges, partly through John Fernandez). Mitsubishi has been a strong rally car and their engineers are no slouches.
An SUV version will be built, and may be sold as the Compass. PT styling will be transferred to this platform around 2006 (calendar year).
It will almost certainly not be called a Neon.
The "C segment" design is reportedly complete and being tested and tuned as we speak (June 3, 2004).
