I would think with the bad sales of the Dakota the next gen will be smaller to fill this niche, and rumors that they are talking to Nissan would seem to support this. A collaborative effort resulting in a smaller fuel efficient pickup might be a big boost, especially considering the Tacoma is now midsized, and the Ranger is going that way in its next gen, basically the "compact" pickup market would be all Dodges, the same way teh Midsized market was when the Dakota frist came out. this would also give them a pickup that could be sold well in other countires, unlike the Dakota.

It's about damn time. Today's trucks have gotten way too damn big. The Dakota and Tacoma and such are huge. The Colorado/Canyon is still fairly small. That's the absolute largest a 'small' truck should be IMO...

They are sitting around scratching their asses wondering why they cant sell a dakota, and yet they dont realize its because of 2 major reasons:

1. THEY DON'T MARKET THEM!
2. There is absolutely no after market support

And thats just great, telling us Americans what we want by observing Thailand wants

JR, I think (and I own a Dakota!) that part of the reason they can't sell them is they are so big, you can buy a ram for only a few bucks more and get more rom and payload, and about the same gas milage. I would love to see them return to the size of the second gen, offer a small diesel (or even the 2.5 world engine) for people that want gas milage....

I like the Dakota the way it is. What made it so different from the others was that it was the only mid-sized truck that offered a v-8. That way you have the power without having to have a huge truck to do the work.

Can you say BRAT! Anyone remember those? GM could do the same thing by bringing back the El Camino just in a smaller package.

This is new BRAT....The Baja which isnt made any longer. My Bro-in-law has one and likes it, and I think they are ok, but Dash and steering are too low. They are too small.
