ASC Freedom concept opens up SUV; vehicle with fabric-panel top to debut at Detroit show
DALE JEWETT | Automotive News
Posted Date: 12/13/04

ASC Inc. will use next month's Detroit auto show to make a pitch for open-air motoring in SUVs with its Freedom concept vehicle.

To create the Freedom concept, ASC replaced the metal roof on a compact SUV with a series of fabric panels. The roof panels can be moved to expose the rear seats and cargo area, or front and rear seats.

The Freedom is one of five concepts the specialty vehicle developer will have at the auto show.

ASC, of Southgate, Mich., helped develop and sub-assembles the Chevrolet SSR. It also provides convertible top systems for the Toyota Camry Solara and Mitsubishi Eclipse.
