The concept vehicles all above, had some type of purpose in the current Dodge lineup! However, lets just take a look at what they each were.

1996 Dodge T-Rex Concept: Dodge decided to experiment in six wheel drive powertrains. A few test mules were built not only of the Ram but the Dakota as well. However, plans fell through once they realized this idea was not as good as they planned.

1997 Dodge Sidewinder Concept: Dodge decided to build an extreme take off of the Dakota for hot rod lovers. This truck was and still is a hot concept still at auto shows today. The supposed reason it fell through, was because of Chrysler Corp. at the time, didn't want to take the images off of the Viper and Prowler. But since it was based firmly off a Dakota, the idea would have been somewhat inexpensive!

1999 Dodge Power Wagon Concept: This concept was suppose to be built for the Ram Heavy Duty line, kinda like Ford's F-150 is seperate from the Super Dutys. The German axed the idea, thinking it would be cheaper to build Heavy Duty Ram 1500 designed models.

2000 Dodge MaxxCab Concept: Was a look into the current generation of Ram pickup. The MaxxCab idea was to base a pickup truck around the family, where passengers come first and cargo second! The idea was intorduced because many families buy trucks for everyday use and only use them for hauling cargo, every once in a while.

2002 Dodge M-80 Concept: Is another Dakota based pickup. With Power Wagon looks, and Dakota drivetrain, the M-80 was a semi hit at shows. However it is still undecided if they will build the $16,000 M-80 yet or not!

Can I post now?

I LOVE the Sidewinder... any chance something of that nature wcould happen? Is it a myth that the T-Rexx had Army ties then? I wasn't too psyched at the M 80, but the MaxxCab is AWESOME.... I love when you do stuff like this! LOL! THANK YOU!

No the army did have some ties into the T-REX but it was most Chrysler's idea for production and it was cancelled... they in 2002 they worked w/ a Combat Ram w/ a superb suspension on a Quad Cab 4X4 model.

If you haven't noticed the Maxx Cab's gauges made it to production in the 2002+ Dodge Ram 1500 and 2003+ Dodge Ram Heavy Duty Models. Also, look at the wheels used on the Power Wagon. They made it to production, but in smaller form on the 2002+ Dodge Ram 1500 models as well!
