Chrysler Group may ditch Stratus, Sebring

The Chrysler Group will ditch two hard-top coupes in the next two years because of waning consumer interest, a trade magazine reported this week.

The U.S. unit of Germany's DaimlerChrysler will end production of the Dodge Stratus and Chrysler Sebring after the 2006 model year, Chrysler's senior design chief, Trevor Creed, told Automotive News.

"If you do a two-door, people say it looks sportier, but that a four-door is more practical," Creed told the weekly. "There is no market for two doors." The decision does not affect Chrysler's two-door Sebring convertible because "impracticality" is already built into a convertible, Creed said. A Chrysler spokesman would not confirm the report.

if there is "NO" market for two doors, than how the hell do you explain the mustang???? with camaro and firebird dead, and gto struggling, NOW is the time to jump into that category, with a bad *** two door dodge rwd w/ a hemi. that would create so much buzz for the company, and the former camaro vs mustang fued would become the dodge vs mustang fued.

If DCX would market the Dodge Stratus/Chrysler Sebring Coupe there would be more of a market. When you see TV commericals you SELDOM if EVER see the 2 doors in them. They're basically an Mitsu Eclipse re-skinned and you see tons of them. I think the 2 door coupe Stratus is a sweet car and if I was a car guy, i'd buy one. My boss at the Dodge dealer I work at said he won't order any 2 door coupes, he'll just stock what the dealer rep sticks him with. It's pretty bad when you offer a car, and a dealer doesn't even want to stock them!

Not hardly Nick, the Mustang can be explained easily. You build a TWO door RWD performance coupe, give it power, 300 horse, and finally price it reasonable 25K. Put it all together in beautiful sheet metal and shazam! You have a hot seller! Why do you think GM is going to bring the camaro back in 07? Because they realized they screwed up! P.S. I am a W supporter, and I would love to own a new stang. But I am waiting for the convertable. And I work for dcx too!

I hope they do lose both of them and replace them with another fine car. Maybe the powerbox.

ill give u the rwd and the great price, but as for performance, they are overrated. as for design, i am not a fan of old cars, and bringing back retro styling, is not appealing to me. i hate the design.

Look at all the delusional honky trash that send their sons of to die in Iraq for nothing, then worship Bush 'the lord' bush when the kid comes home in a box - more evidence of US irrationality.
