My only complaint with the 55' 300 is that it wasnt a muscle car. Muscle cars were not SEDANS. Whether you agree or not, the general consensus of most car people is that a muscle car is a midsize performance coupe.

Whether its a small block or a big block is irrelevant.....because power is power....

The Viper shouldnt even be on this list.....as its not a muscle car.... its an exotic or a supercar...

I voted for the new Challenger. I've driven the old muscle cars and except for straight line performance they do not come close to the performance and reliability of the new cars. Unless you're into collecting or an investment and not driving, the old muscle cars are museum pieces and not practical. Don't get me wrong, I love the oldies but as for what I would want to drive everyday it's got to be the new Challenger. The performance, the looks and the handling. What else does a guy need?

Yeah, but replace the 60/70's era suspension with the same style of suspension that the Challenger gets....and its a whole different ball game.

Stock vs. stock, I completely agree handling wise....but I'd rather dump the effort into an old school then the new one..

I voted for the new Challenger, as well, for the same reasons + My brothers 70 Charger RT 440 gets 5-8 mpg, at best. If he's playing around and doing a little stop light drag strip, he's gotten as little as 1 (not a misprint) mpg. The only thing not stock is the 9" rear end. It has a the factory engine and TorqueFlite tranny. Also, the thing has a rougher ride than a Massey Furgeson and if you try to take a corner at the recommended speed, the body is leaning so bad, your door mirror is almost dragging the ground from the body roll. It is hot inside and has no a/c (not OEM, so my brother isn't going to add it). If you hit a pot hole, the rear end jumps 4 feet to the side. It goes in a straight line like an F-4 hitting the afterburners and looks more muscular than a young Swartzenneger. The car is absolutely brutal in all the good ways...and bad ways that muscle cars are.
The new Challenger will do everything the old Charger/old Challenger will do on their best day and not leave your kidneys hurting for days and without the sweat running down the crack of your-you know what. And it is a beautiful machine.

Hell my 08 Ram jumps when you hit a bump too.
My 69 Road Runner with a 440 6bbl 4-speed with a 3.91 rearend rode very nice and got 14mpg as long as I kept the outboard carbs closed.

I dunno why we are talking about DD's, the question was, "What was the greatest Dodge muscle car."

As much as I would LOVE a new challenger (I agree with the DD part), I voted for the 70 Hemi Cuda.

Btw, I used to always dream of having a muscle car as a DD. I drove a friend's 71 Camaro Z28 350/4spd muncie, and I LOVED it. Then I drove his brand new V8 beamer... Made me realize an old muscle car is not intended for a DD.

What's a "DD"? 69 Charger 440 is the same as a 70 Charger 440, except for some grill/taillight difference. Not saying you're lying, but that's the best mileage of any 440 I've ever heard of. Sounds like some mods to me.

OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH! Daily Driver! I love the 68-70 Charger, but I would rather spend 15 minutes in a new Challenger than an old Charger. Great to look at and great to blow someone's doors off. I think that someone who makes a MOPAR a trailer queen ought to be shot and boiled in their own body fluids. A classic Chevy anything needs to be towed. A classic MOPAR is made to drive. ( ;
