So if you fail at something you should not be given another chance then? Fact is they need to restructure and become more competitive. If they can do this with a "loan" then so be it. If it takes them going through bankruptcy to do it then that is the way they need to go.

So how would dissolving the UAW help anything? Labor is the cheapest component of the vehicle. Labor is less than 10 percent of sticker. How many other American industries or services can say that?

Yes some of the airlines made it through bankruptcy, several did not. Most industry analyst agree if Chrysler goes chap 11 it most likely will not come through it.

The problem with bankruptcy is that if the trustee decided there was too little chance of Chrysler coming out of it and becoming profitable, he/she could decide the more equitable action (for the lienholders) is to sell off the assets and liquidate the company. It would be up to the discretion of one person, and you can bet Chase Bank(who holds most of GM's junk loans) would push for the trustee to liquidate Chrysler. Chase was pushing for the GM buyout last month that would've liquidated Chrysler's assets. The point is, no one but Chrysler cares about the success of Chrysler. It is more likely bankruptcy would turn into a bank feeding frenzy to get all they could, while the getting was good. I don't think Chrysler would emerge from it, whole. Probably would be sold off in chunks to the highest bidder.
