No Nissan or GM, So how about Fiat???????
Hopefully chrysler will work fast to get some of fiat's small cars to our market by this time next year. Its amazing how one day I hear this news and the next day that its a done deal.
Eaton selling out Chrysler to the Germans was a mortal wound that they almost could not recover from. This "so called" alliance with the "Fix It Again Tony" car company will finish them off. I wonder how Mr. Eaton looks in the mirror in the morning. The once proud American Chrysler Corporation will be finished soon. Now that Chrysler is 54% foreign owned, no more taxpayer bailout money, I can tell you that for sure, so unless Fiat comes up with a whole bunch of money to invest in Chrysler, what good did it do to "give" them 35% of the company for nothing? Fiat destroyed thier reputation in the United States years ago. If anybody thinks Americans are going to buy Fiats with a Dodge grill, I think you will be sadly mistaken. It's a sad day for America.
Yeah, I'm not keen on the Fiat idea, but someone had to step to the plate. It sounds like this could be a plus for Chrysler, as somewhere along the lines, they forgot about small economical cars, which Fiat is supposedly good at.
I mean, replacing the Neon with the Caliber, what the heck idea was that? Let's see, I'm going to get rid of an affordable, mostly reliable, 30+MPG car, with one that has newfangled technology in it, only gets 25mpg on a good day, and being new, has a questionable reliability history?!!!
That doesn't even count for the mid-sized segment, in which Chrysler came out with all these radically designed cars that either get small engines with so-so fuel economy, or if you want any performance you lose your MPG. We'll see what happens. I think this can be a good thing as long as the beancounters get out of the way and let the engineers do their work.

I think this joint-venture is a good thing for Chrysler. They are suffering from not having a market outside of the North America. Unlike other major manufacturers, Chrysler is rooted in this part of the world. With the collaboration of economic vehicles and abroad name recognition, the branding of Chrysler could take off. Fiat, in this country , is known for the crap cars they tried to sell her 30 years ago. But did you know Fiat is the company that also makes Alfa Romeo, which is one of the most prestigous brands in world? There is a reason why Fiat has been around forever and Chrysler has been suffering on and off for 35 years. Maybe now they will get their sh*t together.
i think its good the fiat 500 diesel which is coming out soon gets better fuel economy then the prius and the civic hybrid using just 4.2 L/100km while the prius gets 4.4 and the civic 4.6 and from what ive seen around most fiat models get above 45 mpg imperial to even above 55 mpg which is equal to almost 46 mpg US 16 mpg better then the caliber so if dodge could start using some of fiats technologies to get even semi close to fiats current numeber i think dodge could become a HUGE player in the game would start making everyone else shake in there boots lol
