Well, Looks Like Cummins Might be Out of the Ram :'( I've heard Rumors of Possibly Having Detriot Diesel Under the hoods in 2013? Anyone Know & Heard of Anything on Next Plans After The Cummins?

This rumor has been around since the Cummins was first used in a Dodge truck. I used to laugh and, frankly, mock the Ford or Chevy fan who would BS about how Cummins was tired of not selling enough engines and he heard from a friend of the cousin of the son of the pool cleaner of the Ford (or GM) executive who absolutely guaranteed they absolutely bought the rights to the Cummins and Dodge would be out of business in 2 years cause they can't sell a single POS truck without Cummins.....
Here's the only thing being said about Dodge and Cummins relationship being in question. FIAT owns Iveco. Iveco sells a pant load of small, diesel-powered delivery trucks in the US. FIAT and Chrysler announced they would no longer buy the Sprinter from Mercedes, instead they would use the Iveco chassis. There has even been talk of ending Dodge truck chassis's over the 3500 and using Iveco for all heavy duty trucks. While the Iveco "van" is a certainty, even the FIAT executive stated that there would probably be little interest in the US for the Iveco "truck" and a smaller diesel engine for heavy haulers and so they would probably use a small Iveco/FIAT diesel for a light duty Dodge truck, but keep the Cummins for the foreseeable future.
I probably should have just linked the stories, but my back hurts really bad and I can't sleep.

 

Oh yeah, the small diesel for the light duty Ram is a concept they are kicking around. No official word on if it's going into production. Oh yeah and I should have been writing "Ram" the whole time. But they will always be Dodge trucks to me.

 

My cousin works for cummins as an engineer I'll ask him.

 

Thanks highrevr/tflea. & Mantisman51 - I've Heard that too. a Lot of crap in my mind I mean Dodge will be Around As Long as theres a Demand. I couple of my dad's buddy's said there looking into Detroit Diesel (I love both Cummins & Detroit) but If the Detroit is like a Series 60 Semi Engine that would be a Bat out of hell but, i've heard all kinds of stuff about that

 

I've got a 2012 dodge 3500 that gets 11 mpg any ideas to get better only have 6000 miles on it

 

Cummins and Dodge will be together for a VERY long time. For one, they are a great combination. For two, both would feel the pain. Dodge would lose those "I bought a Cummins wrapped in a Dodge" people, and Cummins simply doesn't have another light duty option available to them. Dodge is the only pickup that Cummins has a home for. Period.

I have heard, and Im pretty sure, but not 100% that the Dakota is at its end. 2011 is supposed to be its final year. Ugh. I love the Dakota, shame they are ending its career.
