Only 645hp? Pffft. That 8.4L ought to be cranking out 700hp at LEAST.

It's outgunned by the hellcat. The Viper should have the highest power #'s of anything in the lineup for it to be taken serious.

It's very true. I read an article speculating that a supercharger may be added for Vipers. It takes away from the iconic n/a setup they've always had, but think about it....... 512 cubic inches with boost would be insane! GM and Ford are using them, why not Dodge?

*edit*

This is the article I was talking about.

It sounds as though Dodge got caught by surprise on this one. They should just take the Viper off the market for a couple years. This would give enough time to solve the problem and maybe create more demand since the sales are slow.

I disagree. If you drop it, it might not be revived. A large reason why the Viper isn't as popular is because the market has changed since the 90s and the price I am sure didn't help. The mindset of people has gone from Do It Yourself to Do It For Me. They need to add an optional automatic, the price adjustment was a step in the right direction, they need to offer an optional supercharged V10 at some point a make a genuine effort to benchmark some of the best supercars in the world.

The Viper would need a complete redesign in order to fit an automatic capable of handling the power it produces. Maybe in the next Viper refresh, but probably not anytime soon.

Will the ZF-8 not fit in the Viper? The torque capacity is apparently high enough to handle the Hellcat which produces 50 ft-lbs of torque and 62 more hp.

Honestly, it seems as though the Viper may need a new manual if it gets too much more powerful as the TR-6060's torque capacity as I understand it is in the mid to upper 600 ft-lbs range.
