Here's my question though, why did both the PT Loser and the Peon get the SRT-4 motor? I would have thought at least that they would want a performance coupe to some degree!!

Oh well, its probably best that the Neon became an SRT-4 anyways....it helped em sell more of that car

Yeah, I know they wouldnt use the Mercedes motor for the Stratus, but I could have seen them throwing a turbo on the 3.0L V6 in the Stratus/Sebring as an option, I bet you lots of people would have taken that option. I know myself and several others I've spoken with would.

 

A turbo 2.7? I never heard of it. Is this something recently came out?

 

They offer the turbo 2.4 on the sedan and it's available only in Mexico....emissions standards wouldnt have passed here in the USA apparently....and to my knowledge the 2.7L is a V6 and not turbo'd.

My stepdad's Stratus has the 2.7 in it.

 

okay, that makes sense. that 2.7 is a potent engine to push out 200 horses normally aspirated. If it was turbo'ed, I wonder what additional power it can put out? Maybe be the next SRT turbo engine? It be sweet.

 

i dont know....i thought the r/t 4 dr were turbo'd b/c they were based off the old conquest motors....my bad.

 

There's already a 3.2L SRT-6 with Hp 330hp. It would probably be better then a 2.7L SRT-6.

Yes, but like in the above posts, its not a Dodge engine. Its the Mercedes engine and its on a RWD tranny setup. I think the spirit of his comment was that he was looking for a Dodge version V6 SRT motor...that's designed for a FWD setup...or possibly an AWD..

the mexican stratus RT coupe has the PT cruiser drive train in it...and they are fairly fast.

 

Hey badstratrt, i live here in mexico.here isn't a stratus coupe. its just the 4 door version. but yes, it has the 2.4l turbo. runs great. also the cirrus of chrysler. here theres no 2.7l.....
aprox, the stratus r/t here in mexico goes 0-60 in like 6-7 secs.
