Default Who Wants Two Years Of Free Gas On A New Chrysler!?

Chrysler kicks in freebies, extras

DETROIT — DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler Group said Thursday it will give two years of free gas to customers who buy a 2005 or 2006 vehicle before Jan. 3, following announcements of new discounts by rivals General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. Chrysler also will kick in two years of free scheduled maintenance and increase the warranty on mechanical parts to five years or 60,000 miles. Chrysler now offers a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty. The offer, called the "Miles of Freedom" plan, begins Monday. Chrysler is excluding some of its hottest-selling vehicles from the plan, including the Dodge Viper, Chrysler 300, Dodge Magnum, Dodge Charger, Dodge Sprinter and SRT8.

That still leaves the Crossfire, Crossfire SRT-6, left over SRT-4 Neons, & the Ram SRT-10. Sounds like this might be a big hit!

The two years of free gas is figured using a dollar ammount and the national averages for cost of fuel and average MPG. They will give you a debit card for that dollar ammount (about $2500). With the extra warranty, it looks to be a pretty good plan.

Now for the catch. If you take the Miles of Freedom Plan, you can't take any of the other rebates! So before you leap, weigh your options carefully! On some of the Chrysler group vehicles that have lower rebates, the Miles of Freedom might get you more value, but on other rigs, you are better of with the rebates.

OK, here are some more details...

The total retail value of the Miles of Freedom plan is $3867. The extended 5 yr/ 60,000 Full Mechanical Limited Warranty plan has a retail value of $1,100 if you were to purchase it. Chrysler pics and average figure for the 2 yr/ 24,000 mile Scheduled Maintenance plan at $400. You will get a Miles of Freedom Plan Gas Card with a dollar ammount of $2,367. This all brings you to the total value of $3687, which is more dollar value than you will get from any rebates on 2006 models ( the highest available is $3500)

Things change if you are looking at a 2005 model though. For example, if you want to purchase a 2005 Grand Cherokee Limited, you can get a rebate of $4,500. A regular cab Ram 1500 gets $5,500.

So it may or may not be the best deal, just depending on what you are buying.

It rocks to have a sales guy on the forum with us! Thanks man! The day this came out I took my wifes Liberty to the dealership to get some work done on it and the folks there knew of the program but didn't know much about it. I don't blame them for that, thats just how the business world works sometimes. Thanks again!
