Default Hemi in a Dakota?

I know this is kinda backseat compared to the Charger and the 6.1 and 7.7 Hemi, but has anyone heard about putting a Hemi in a Dakota? That would be (SWEET), alot of power for a light truck.

I could see it happen as an R/T maybe. WHo knows. Ask redriderbob, he keeps up on that sort of thing pretty well.

As far as DaimlerChrysler says, it has no intention to put the 5.7L HEMI "MAGNUM" V-8 in the new 2005 Dakota. But inside sources say you will have to wait about a year and a half to two years, when you will be able to purchase a Dakota SRT-8 pickup (onlky available in Club Cab models). Altough, there is word the 5.7L HEMI "MAGNUM" V-8 will be added in 2006 to the lineup for use in the Dakota Quad Cab models and not Club Cab models. Still the info is a little sketchy, but the best thing to do is wait it out for a while. However, if you are in need of a performance Dakota right now, your best choice would be to get a 2005 Club Cab model with the 4.7L HO "MAGNUM" V-8 which makes 250+ horsepower and 310+ ft-lbs of torque. With a few mods like aftermarket exhaust and K&N air filter you would be right there with the 5.9L R/T models from 1998-2003. The 5.9L "MAGNUM" V-8 models had 250 horsepower and 350 ft-lbs of torque, so you can see what I mean.

Talk about scary fast. The 360 was to much motor for a Dakota. Part of me hopes they do put the HEMI in a dakota, which from what I keep hearing around the Dealership I work, will happen in 06 as an SRT-8 Model. However, I think it'd be to much motor for the truck.

They put it in the Durango and that is roughly the same size as the Dakota.

The funny thing is, the 4.7L "MAGNUM" V-8 powered Dakotas (2000+ models), actually can run the quarter mile about the same time as the heavy 5.9L R/T models. I want to see how the 250+ horsepower and 300+ ft-lbs of torque 4.7L HO "MAGNUM" V-8 in the 2005 Dakota Club Cab models can run in the quarter compared to the 1998-2003 5.9L R/T Club Cab models.

out of the Box yes, a Broken in 5.9 is faster than a new 5.9. The OHC Engines dont have nearly the break in period. RT Daks would often be significantly faster after a few K.
