Dodge will need to do something, with stronger engines coming out from Toyota (5.7 IForce, rumored at 375 hp and 400+ ft/lbs of torque) and the GM Vortec 6.2 (currently available in the Escalade, but will undoubtedly make its way to trucks). Both are making 30 more horsepower and 40-50 more pounds of torque.

I am not sure if the 6.1 is the answer, but pretty soon they will need to do something about the current 345/375 power ratings. Personally, I'd rather see them improve the transmission for firmer shifts, quicker acceleration, and less driveline loss

Sorry, but this has been a Rumor for 5 Years now.
I work for GMC now, In no way has this altered my opinions. Mopar is still my middle name. The new GM 6.2L all aluminumV8 is making 415+ TQ and almost 400hp with 10.5 to 1 compression ratio. GM makes great SUVs but the Chrysler technology is still better. The 6.1L Hemi engine as an option in 2500 & 3500 Ram HD Trucks exclusively was announced far before a 6.1L was announced for any SRT car. These rumors are most likely still true, Ram will eventually get the 6.1. They most likely wanted to wait until they need it to slow the current yearly advancements in engine dynamics. As long as they increase the oil, and coolant capacities of this truck it will be more than capable of being the most dominant engine in the segment. But if it produces less that 420lbs of torque and or 400-405hp Chrysler should not bother, and they should just advance the 6.1.

well i hope they don't de-tune the 6.1 and leave it at 425 hp. You guys need to give it up about it being exclusive to SRT. this is why. if dodge made a 6.2 or 6.3 with the same horsepower, othercompanies will have a 6.1 or less with same hp and say"haha dodge has to get a bigger engine to get that hp." dodge will be wanting to get the most hp per liter so 6.1 with 425 isthe answer. a lot of ignorant ford and gm truck owners(and i do mean IGNORANT) all keep thinking the 5.7 is the strongest v8dodge has then they say "gm or ford has something better/will be coming out withsomething better." dodge needs that 6.1 in their trucks to show them a little bit of "in your faces dumarses!" And i find it funny that ford and gm owners really only buy those trucks because of brand loyalty and because they were the main two"back in the day" when they were in deep competition, not only in the market but between their consumers too. They really don't do any research or even try to find things out. maybe that's why they stickwith ford and gm. THEYARE IGNORANT.
