If the only reason you spend money on a car is because its rare......then you got issues, but hey...that's just my opinion. No worries, I wont comment on this stupid affair anymore, period
Well then I guess a majority of the buyers at the Barret-Jackson style auctions all have issues according to you...

If that is the case I think I will stick with those guys and our issues as opposed to your viewpoint in buying extremely mass produced vehicles(based soley on performance numbers in relation to price) so I can be like everybody else, sounds all too communistic to me.

If I honestly had the money to buy a Viper, but I could get a Z06 Vett for less, I would still buy the Viper. Brand loyalty goes a long way and that impacts Viper sales more than anything else.

There should be more to your reason of buying the Viper than brand loyalty...

[sm=dontgetit.gif]That concept is from before the current SRT-10 was even out. It describes the engine as being even more potent from 450 hp to 500 hp. This ain't the next Viper.

All I know is that most Viper owners compare their cars to the AC cobra and Daytona not a Corvette. Many Viper owners could care less what a Corvette can do because many have owned 'vettes and like the rawness of a Viper.

People are always quoting the numbers from the rags. The numbers are track conditions, pro drivers, and corrected for weather conditions. They are still considered mass produced and every engine is slightly different.
My old plant used to assemble the 450 hp motors. One in Ten was run in and dynoed and every one was not exactly 450 hp. Same goes for the performance of the trans, prop shaft, differential, axles and even the state of the tires during a mag test . Get over the rag numbers.

Point is, darn near all sports car purchases are emotional driven purchases. Not necessarily ultimate performance or price. Besides, very few except for highly skilled pro drivers will ever duplicate the numbers.

If this viper does 0-60 in 3.5 seconds with only 615 horsepower, I cant wait to see what it does with 700 or 650.[8D]
Hate to break it to you, but thats not impressive AT ALL. The base model Corvette with the LS2 400hp motor does 0-60mph in 4.2 seconds. The current 2006 Z06 Corvette does 0-60 in 3.5 seconds ALREADY.....

So with an added 215hp it only shaved .8 seconds off what a base model 40k Corvette can do???? Sounds like you arent getting your money's worth to me.
Now remember not all outlets have the same numbers. The most consistent number for the Z06 I have seen is 3.8 sec. I agree with you that it should be faster. They should just drop the rear-end ratio down to a 3.46 like the Corvette has increase the gap. Unfortuneatly, I believe it is impossible to make the Viper faster and more cost effective at the same time with the current technology they are using. Again remember the difference between these two cars.

Also, it appears to me that although the Viper might be slower in the 0-60 times, it is just as fast in the quarter-mile times. In my Road & Track Magazine archieved road test times a convertible Viper SRT-10's quarter-mile time is 12.1@119.3 vs. the C6 Corvette Z06 is 12.2@120.7. It took less time to reach a quater-mile in the convertible Viper than it did in the Corvette stock. Now when this is given the power improvement, the difference will be more. The Corvette is quicker at reaching the speed but slower at reaching the distance. Granted it is cheaper but the fact is the Corvette will always be cheaper, but the Viper is more exclusive. It depends on what you value.
