people would have to be "plum crazy" just to wait that long for one to begin with... I think the charger will fade into the sunset once the Challenger comes out anyway.

Why would you think that, they are two TOTALLY different cars... I believe the only people who think that way about the Charger are still hating on the name...

Surprisingly enough, I have to agree with VFS. I really think that the Charger will take a serious hit when the Challenger debuts. There are a ton of diehard MOPAR fanatics who decided to buy a Charger as opposed to buying a Mustang or a Camaro/Corvette simply because it said DODGE. I think you could see a drop off in sales relatively quickly. I am not saying everyone will stop buying them, but I do expect to see the numbers take a serious hit.

Ok, I could see a 5-10% drop... maybe even a 15% drop... but not a "serious hit"... The people who had gripes with the 4-doors and the name, didn't buy one. People who wanted a powerful, agressive looking sedan, to match their needs, did... Haters, lol...

i dont think the charger will go away at all because they are two totally different vehicles. charger-four door family sedan available with anything from a conservative and fuel saving v6 to a gas guzzling 6.1L v8 for performance...sorta like the best of both worlds because you can get a nice family sedan that isnt boring and has aggressive looks and plenty of available power under the hood for family guys that still wanna hot rod around. challenger is gonna be a more agressive looking two door that will go much faster and will be more for guys who dont have kids to haul around and just wanna go fast and have fun. i think alot of ppl will purchase one as a second vehicle to drive on the weekends and not for daily commute.

The Challenger will use a slightly modified LX platform, called the LY. The LX platform is the same platform the Charger, Magnum, and 300C are currently built on. The Challenger will weigh roughly 4000lbs at least...possibly as much as 4200lbs. It will have the same motor options as the Charger as well. So how is it going to go much faster or be any different except the 2/4 dr difference. It wont.

I think that more people would buy the Challenger simply because its the two door car that everyone wants...

Dodge already did that. It's called Intrepid.

Thanks for posting that pic. I have a TorRed Daytona on order, and that's the first pic I've seen of one.

Is it just me or does that "Torred" look real close to the "Inferno Red" that we put on every other car we build? Including the T&C I just got my wife. Renaming an exsiting color as an impact color just seems wrong. I wish they would only bring back the color name if they are actually going to reproduce the color.

To chime in on the challanger/charger thing... I think it will only hurt R/T, daytona, SRT sales. The bread and butter line (SXT) will be okay. Considering the magnum will be gone at that time as well, that will help out the charger a bit too.

Joe
