Default RE: diesels?

As for grand cherokee in europe. In the past they used a renault I-4 2.5L TD 1994-2001. Then they offered detroit diesel / VM 3.1L TD I-5 1999-2002 as an upgraded offer to the renault motor. Then 2002-2004 they switched to the MB 2.7Lcrd. From the MB/dodge/freightliner sprinter, C-class, and E-class. The MB 2.7L crd is going away in favor of the new V-6 3.0Lcrd. See specs http://www.whnet.com/4x4/diesel.html . The dodge sprinter will get the new 3.0Lcrd too. I've read that the new grand cherokee and chrysler 300 & tourer will get the MB 3.0L crd.
But for the north american market. Who knows. I'd love to see the new MB3.0L make it to the states. But according to http://www.autoweek.com/news.cms?newsId=101031 a MB motor in a chrysler div product is too spendy. Not counting the sprinter. So I'm hoping for detroit diesel V-6 3.0L. http://www.detroitdiesel.com/public/specs/3sa549.pdf as an option for the north american market chrysler div. diesel.

Yes there is... besides the 2005 Jeep Liberty, the word is expect the new 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee to feature the same diesel in it, sometime mid-year, or maybe in 2006. There has also been word forever on a Ram 1500 diesel pickup, but as of lately it has yet to be spoken of.

As for Ram 1500 diesel. No word yet. But cummins has been testing a V-8 5.6L TD in a RAM 1500 and a V-6 4.2L in a durango since 1999. Detroit diesel has also been testing a 4.0L TD in the durango. Ford has been looking into using the cummins 4.2L TD V-6. But no orders yet.

As for grand cherokee. They will use the MB 3.0Lcrd in europe. No word on anything for the north american market.

i find it odd that they say a mb motor is too spendy for a chrysler ?! first of all chrysler is making most of the money for the company, and second of all, what makes the mb motors cost so much more??
