Default diesels?

Besides the Jeep Liberty, are there any rumors about diesel vehicles? Thanks.

Yes there is... besides the 2005 Jeep Liberty, the word is expect the new 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee to feature the same diesel in it, sometime mid-year, or maybe in 2006. There has also been word forever on a Ram 1500 diesel pickup, but as of lately it has yet to be spoken of.

What do you mean by "Cherokee to feature the same diesel in it" ? Is it the 5.9 cummins? or a whole new diesel engine for passenger vehicles?

I would love to see a 5.9 cummins to be offered in the 1500 series and Durangos even! Most of my 2500/3500 Ram buddies brag about their excellent fuel mileage over us gas guzzling counterparts! I am willing to dish out the extra cash to opt for a cummins over a gas just for fuel mileage and longer engine life.

5.9Cummins would add a lot of weight to a 1500 or Durango....however I agree with a diesel, maybe a smaller Cummins

If they did put the 5.9 diesel in the ram 1500's they would have to beef up the suspension because they are not light.

For those who want more info on the VM 2.8L crd. Go to www.swiftindavis.com/sblog/?itemid=361

The VM 2.5Lcrd came out first in europe for the voyager and cherokee/liberty and the VM 2.8Lcrd is just an enlarged version. Now the 2.5Lcrd is offered with a manual trans and the 2.8Lcrd is offered with automatic in the voyager and cherokee. Hopefully the 2.8Lcrd will get the new 6sp manual for the liberty/cherokee.
For the future:
I'd love to see the jeep wrangler get the VM 2.5Lcrd and 2.8Lcrd. (Currently for the UK military. The wrangler TJL is being offered with a VM 2.8Lcrd. http://jeephorizons.com/news/tjl-uk.html )
I'd love to see the dodge caravan get the VM 2.8Lcrd just like the voyager in europe.
I'd love to see the jeep gladiator be produced with the VM 2.8Lcrd.
I'd love to see the dodge dakota get a VM 2.8Lcrd for the public & 2.5Lcrd for fleet use.
I'd love to see the pt cruiser get the VM2.5Lcrd and VW 2.0LTD. ( http://www.dieselnet.com/news/0309vw2.html )
