More info on the Viper

Just got back from a regional Chrysler Group meeting. They were talking about future products and mentioned the Viper. Said it will have 600HP, bigger brakes and a new hood. Didn't mention anything about a major makeover! Anyone else attend any of these meetings?

It's also believe that there will be two models. Possibly the Firepower and Viper SRT-10, that vary from 500 hp and 650 hp. Kind of like the Vette and Z06 only multiplied by 150 hp...
FIREPOWER patent/trademark was published for opposition on 9/26/2006.
Mainly, the engine is rumored to be a 505 ci 8.4L VVT V10 producing 650 hp.
We will probably see it at NAIAS...

I doubt the "Blue Devil" Z06 will pose much of a threat since it will be a VERY limited production vehicle (most sources estimate around 100 cars). Comparing the Blue Devil to a Hennessey Viper would be more on par in this case.
VVT on a V10, now their talking! It would be close between the Viper and the Corvette Blue Devil, but the simple fact is your comparing a base model vs. a top model. Cars are judged by their base model. The Vette and Viper are in different classes, they have from the beginning. The question is what the price difference between a Blue Devil and a Viper would be. Also the Viper would still have more untapped potiential than the Corvette.

Didn't mention anything about a major makeover!
Plus I wouldn't expect anything to be released because of leaks like the above...

Absolutely right,
Obviously people will always misunderstand what the difference is between a production vehicle, and a modified vehicle.
There are custom horsepower companies tuning twin turbo Vipers past 1100 RWHP In Full Street Trip on the stock block. Im not talking about Hennesseys over priced crap either. These cars are capable of running 8s with slicks, The Viper has more potential than what people realize.
