No the Impala SS was no where near as fast as a GNX. A GNX did 0-60 in approximately 4.6-4.7 secs & the 1/4 mile in 13.4 secs @ 104 mph. The 94-96 Impala SS did0-60 in7.0 secs & the 1/4 in 15.4 secs. The engine output was lower as well. The LT1-powered Impala SS was only rated at 260hp & 330ft-lbs of tq, whereas the GNX produced 275hp & 360 ft-lbs of tq. Also the GNX was a coupe, I only used the STS to represent another luxury car andsince the STS is closer to the size of the GNX than the XLR is I chose to use the STS as the example.

unless your SS wasfairly modified, the GNX couldnt have been trying. We are talking about cars that are some 2 seconds apart in the quarter mile. Are you certain that it was a GNX, not a GN? Your car would have given a stock 85 GN a good run, but the 86-86 GN and GNX should make very very short work of a stock Impala SS.
Also, there were only like 550 GNX's made..and they are very valuable collectors items.

i like the look of it and love the color but i dont care for the black strip down the middle or the red drivers stripe. i think itd look better all one color or maybe that dark grey color with white, red, or black stripes. im mixed on the wing. in some ways it looks good but i generally dont like those big gaudy wings on the backs of cars. i would love to own one though.

Ahhh I love the flat black on this car. Reminds me of the Batmobile and thats awesome. Ricer wings should never be put on American Muscle but since its functional I'll let it slide this time. This is an orgasm on wheels.
