Default Auto to 4speed swap

I have a 73 challenger that was originally a 4sp and is now a 727 auto. I am interested in putting an A833OD 4 speed back in and was wondering about the shift setup. Is the Overdrive trans the same setup as the regular 4speed?? Will I need to change the driveshaft when removing the auto?? Other than the mount and possibley the driveshaft, are there any other hidden issues I should know about??? Thanks in advance for anybody's assistance.

My guess would be that whoever put the 727 in the car probably shortened the driveshaft to make it fit. I bet you'll need a longer driveshaft. Do you have the clutch linkage that was originally on the car???

The clutch pedal is still in the car as well as the frame mounted Z bar bracket. I need everything else. Since my original post I heard that the driveshaft was the same length. Is that not correct??

I'm not sure of exact length either, but there are multitudes of sources for new and used driveshafts - just check any Mopar mag. You're fortunate that the "tough stuff" is already there, including the pedals (a pain to do), plus you're returning it to what it was originally.

Good luck

My 1969 Road Runner was original 4spd car and had a auto in it when I bought it. Later I found a a-833 4spd to put back in it and I used the driveshaft that was already in the car with the automatic. It fit fine. My guess is it may be the same. Wouldn't hurt just to install and check.

you could install and check it out probably wouldn't hurt.
do you have all the parts? like the bellhousing/flywheel?
you did mention you had the pedals and some of the clutch linkage.
