Default Im looking for a challenger

hi im new to the board and looking for a 1970 challenger. how much would a 1970 challenger with title and all matching numbers with a good frame cost? im 16 right now and i have worked on a 1974 vw bug but there is alot of rust on the frame and it is keeping me from turning it in to a dune buggy. I want to spend $2,000-$2,500 max, do you think i could get a ok condition 1970 challenger for that much? and what should i look for when buying a challenger any parts very hard to replace or very expensive to replace etc. thanks

With the prices of E-bodies nowadays, you would be really lucky to find a #'s matching car for $2000-$2500. To be honest, you will be lucky to find a 70 Challenger for that much in good shape. The reason is that 70-71 E-bodies are the most sought after right now and to get #'s matching and a good body, I would say your looking at between $6,000- $10,000 easy. E-Bay usually sets the prices these days, so you might want to check there on prices.

Shatar is right.... for $2500, any Challenger you're likely to find would be a basket case needing a bunch of work, including rust repair. You'd be lucky if it even had a drivetrain. That's especially true for '70 & '71's. You might be able to do a little better if you were willing to settle for a '72-'74, but not much. That's the reality of today's market.

It would almost have to be a miracle for you to get a decent shape numbers matching '70 Challenger for only $2,000-$2,500, even if it were just a Slant 6 car with a 3 speed manual and no other options. The 1970 Challengers are the most sought after Challengers of all. You may get lucky and find someone with one that has no idea what they have and they are looking to get rid of it. I got my Roadrunner with it's damaged #'s matching motor and #'s matching tranny in the car with a '73 400 high performance engine and got it for around $2,500 and it was sitting in Krogers parking lot with a For Sale sign on it. Anything is possible, but some like this are just very unlikely.

As long as it's not #'s matching you can or if the owner really needs to get rid of it or has no idea what he's got. I almost lucked into a '69 GTX with 440 and 4spd. with new 1/4's on it, new exhaust, new door panels and dash pad for only $4,500, but I didn't have the $$$ and at that time I couldn't get a loan for a car that old.[:@][][&o][sm=smiley19.gif][sm=boohoo.gif]

I would love to get a '71 Cuda, '70 Challenger R/T, '68-'69 Charger R/T, '70 Superbee, '69 GTX, '69 Daytona, '70 Superbird, and a few others including another '71 Roadrunner.

Ill take a rusty challenger as long as it doesnt have alot of holes maybe about four holes. not in the engine though. because i got the time to spend on a thing like this but ill have to get it in a year im looking at one for about $3000 and it has to be in North West or i wont be able to get it unless u have a semi ship it. Or a train but ya other wise nope. And i wont be able to pay for the shipping lol.
