Default MSD Ignition Installation

I'm installing an MSD ignition in my '73 340 challenger. Any suggestions on how to handle the existing wiring? I haven't decided if I should leave it alone, (stashing it as best as I can) or removing it. Anyone have experience with this?

Rick

I removed all unnecessary wiring to keep the engine bay as clean as possible. The 6AL box is up under my dash behind my heater. Easy access in case I want to change the rev limiter chip.

I left the stock wiring, but the MSD is wired independent from the stock stuff.

hmm they tell you to keep it in a spot where air can get to it to cool the box, i had a special little spot for mine but when i contacted them and asked them if it would harm the box they said yeah and that it needs to be vented.

have you had any problems with the box?

The guy that installed mine told me to leave the existing wires cause if my power drops below 12volts the MSD will not start the engine. If that does happen all the origianl wires are back there to hook up to and it will start.

I found an MSD box that was black-n-silver that matched my valve covers and air filter pan. I decided to show it off in the front passenger side of the engine compartment. Next I'm going to find some sort of batterey cover and paint it to match. I still however have a lot of cleaning to do in my engine compartment.

The sticker is differant than the rectangle ones that come with the parts you get. My MSD box was made for Mopar and it came black with the silver, instead of the red. I bought it from the company's tent at the Carlisle show last year.
